🏒🚨Hockey History🚨🏒
Travel back to 1972 with us!
54 years ago, my father, Gene Harrington decided to host his first hockey tournament, in North Tonawanda, NY.
🇺🇸🏒🇨🇦
His goal: to bring Canadian and US teams together for a weekend of cross-border competition.
🏒 Gene devoted most of his life to coaching and hosting youth hockey tournaments.
He did this out of love.
Love for the kids, and love for the game. 🏒🥅🏒
I was lucky enough to coach with my dad and experience firsthand his skills of teaching, motivation, and charisma. He was an inspirational leader and always showed concern for the welfare of his players, on and off the ice.
🙌 He will long be remembered by those he coached, the player’s parents, and anyone who had the opportunity to meet him. Gene passed away in 1993.
I am fortunate enough to call him dad. While I miss him every day, I am reminded of his ways and inspired by his actions. He is a great person to attempt to measure up to. I wish I had him here with me. We would be having fun, fishing, golfing, hockey…
❤️ I have him with me always. Please share your memories of Gene with us.
Who inspires you?
🏒Yours in Hockey
Brian & Whitney
